HENRICO COUNTY, VA (TERESAREPORTS) – More than 100 people showed up to the Lakeside Farmer’s Market on Saturday and donated items to Richmond Animal Care and Control in memory of Tommie, the dog intentionally set on fire.
Abby Waller, a vendor at the Lakeside Farmer’s Market organized the event, and said more than 200 items were donated.
“Incredible day,” Waller said. “So many folks shedding tears, but smiling at the level of support. Tommie is such a symbol of love, generosity, and pure goodness.”
Waller said the idea was sparked from the outpouring of love she saw on RACC’s social media
“So many people mentioned wanting to help and give support to RACC staff because they’ve gone through so much in these past couple of days,” she said.
Waller said the community came together in a time of need.
“I think folks really wanted to show how much these animal caregivers are valued and loved by so many,” she told TeresaReports. “We’re going to get a caravan of compassionate folks together to take all the supplies over there this coming week.”
The items will all be donated to RACC and RACC staff.
